Donkey Kong 3 high score #7, 1-hour marathon

Here is my first timed, one-hour marathon score for DK 3 and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with it at 1,221,600. It's also the first time I have rolled the counter and realized there there are no more extends after you roll the counter, which means you have to bank lives to make survival easier in later levels.

I did this on Zespy's machine at Logan Hardware a few days ago, in the backroom and as I played, I kept my iPhone running a countdown timer from one hour. As soon as it hit one hour, I took my hands off the controls and let my remaining guy die off. I'm excited to see just how far I can take it past the loop and if 2 million is possible. I'm also hopeful that this will be another event title in the future.

WR may be a bit tought - 4 mill plus, but who knows? I'd like to at least make a stab at 2nd, which is like 2 mil and change. I think I could manage that. It'd be like a two-hour marathon but I think I can manage!

Nice score, that completely destroys my high score :) One note: Zespy's machine was set on easy difficulty, at least when we played it at the CAGDC tournament. The default arcade difficulty is hard which is the one TG accepts high scores for, which makes a huge difference (BTW George R set the WR of 4 mil on my machine at my home arcade). Do you normally play on easy or hard??? I play both...but mostly on hard.

I actually practice at work on the TG settings and I didn't notice much difference if any. If I remeber correctly, the settings were for TG Marathon for the tourney, but I can always recheck the dips. I know that my machine at work is set to the correct settings - maybe I should to do a run from there! I do want to hit the 2 mil mark at some point.

I decided to play DK 3 today and got 1,286,700 (on easy setting). This is the first time I rolled the score over back to 0. The difference between easy and hard is that on hard there are more stingers and DK is harder to push up at the higher levels (I have 2 machines, one set on easy and the other on hard). I bet next year both of us will roll it at the contest LOL.
