Recca VHS superplay

As i am a huge fan of this game, I have wanted to see this superplay VHS for quite some time. I know that there was one copy in someone's hands on shmups but the chances of getting it were slim.

So I practially jumped at the chance to get a DVD copy from cstarflare on Cave-STG (Yagawa game - Cave employee). Not only is the copy totally flawless, but he mailed it without charge. Awesome!

The superplay is without fanfare and hoopla, no intro screen, just the game's title screen as if you had just popped in the cart. The player plays through Normal Mode in a no-miss 1CC, then plays through the Harder mode you unlock by beating normal mode as a no-miss, 1CC, which is followed by the Score Attack mode. He hits the mil in 3:47 - very impressive, never once dropping his medal chain.

There are a ton of good strats on the DVD and some pretty impressive playing. It's a super daunting game, but oh-so beautiful in its 8-bit near-bullet hell glory.

Summer Carnival '92 - Recca - Time Attack high score #2

Done. I'm not sure sub 4-minutes is possible. In order to get around 4:10, you'd have to have a perfect game and just demolish the bosses very very quickly. That's really the key from what I know.

Still happy with this score. Beats Dave's score from the CWC '09, so I'm happy.

Summer Carnival '92 - Recca - Score Attack high score #2 & Time Attack high score #1

Score Attack - 483,960

Time Attack - 4:18:26

Spent the better part of the morning platying Recca and trying to break 500K in Score Attack and ended up with this high score. The key is definitely to charge your bomb as much as possible to keep those points rolling in. It's a tough thing to work out, but as this score moves me up into third place after being bumped off the bottom of the table, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with my progress.

The Time Attack score is sloppy, but I'm pretty happy with it. I know the first stage inside and out, but have no real patterns for the second stage, so I'm working on that. I think sub-4 minutes is very possible.

Summer Carnival '92 - Recca - Score Attack high score #1

Totally insane for a Famicom game. There's so much going on, so much to shoot and so many things to plan for that this may be one of the - if not the - toughest carnival titles.

Been working to go over 400K and got there today, setting my first high score at 416,993. Still alot of work to do, and there's a much better score ahead. I have my cart comming from an NES reproduction guy and I'm stoked to play this on a good NES pad.
